Myocardial Revascularization Using the da Vinci Surgical System
Intuitive Surgical da Vinci Surgical System is sponsoring a study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of their robotic system for use in performing totally endoscopic, left internal mammary artery (LIMA) to left anterior descending (LAD) myocardial revascularization. The potential benefits to the patient could include a cosmetically appealing result, and potentially shorter hospital stay due to decreased surgical trauma. Three small incisions will replace the common sternotomy incision. One of the small incisions will be for insertion of the camera for the robot. The other two incisions are for the two robotic arms to enter the chest area.
This study is currently being conducted at 12 sites around the United States.
Eligibility for enrollment:
- First time single vessel LIMA to LAD myocardial revascularization
- Eligibility will be determined through pre-operative angiography conducted prior to enrollment.
