Thoratec Ventricular Assist Device

The Thoratec Ventricular Assist Device can be used to support patients with acute and chronic heart failure. This is a small pump that sits on the outside of the chest on the patient’s belly and helps with heart function. The dual-drive console is attached to the pump to drive it with compressed air. The TLC2 is a portable drive that is about the size of a suitcase. Patients using this heart assist device can actually walk outside and even go home.
