The USC Cardiothoracic Surgery staff is committed to the best care and treatment for your loved one. This guide is provided for you, the patient's family and friends, so that you may have a better understanding of the surgery and visitor guidelines.
Guidelines for Contacting
the Healthcare Unit
Designate a Spokesperson
To protect patient confidentiality, only family and friends who are designated by the patient will be able to receive information regarding the surgery. We also recommend that you designate one family or friend to be the spokesperson, who will communicate with our health care team and pass along the information to other family and friends. We will keep the spokesperson's name and phone number in the patient's chart, and will contact him/her if there is a change in the patient's condition.
