Patient's Guide to Heart Transplant Surgery
Support Services
A monthly support group is held on the first Tuesday of every month for both heart and lung transplant patients and their families. Both pre and post-transplant patients attend this group that provides patients with an opportunity to share their experiences with one another.
The meetings are educational in nature, with speakers scheduled to address various topics of interest to transplant patients and their family members. Once you are on the waiting list, you will receive a flyer in the mail every month as a reminder for the next group.
Additionally, we have a formalized Buddy Program, which matches you with a posttransplant patient who is similar to you in terms of diagnosis and other demographics to serve as your mentor throughout the transplant process. Short-term counseling services are available through the transplant social worker for issues pertaining to your transplant process.
