Medtronic Cardioblate

The Medtronic Cardioblate pen and generator treats atrial fibrillation by using radiofrequency energy to create lesions in cardiac tissue. The irrigated electrode provides a low impedance path which allows the energy to be driven further into the tissue, creating a deeper lesion. The electrode also facilitates the transfer of the RF energy, allowing the surgeon to oscillate the pen over the tissue without applying pressure, and cools the surface of cardiac tissue to minimize any charring. The Cardioblate pen has a malleable shaft and can be shaped to reach all areas of the heart.
