The Heart and Lung Transplant Program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles is a national and international referral center for children with end stage heart and lung disease. Patients are managed by a comprehensive, coordinated transplant team.

• Heart Transplant
  Cardiac transplantation has become a viable treatment option for patients with end stage cardiac disease. The USC cardiopulmonary transplant team is headed by Vaughn A. Starnes, M.D., a world-recognized leader and innovator in heart, heart-lung, lung transplantation, and cardiothoracic surgery. The remainder of the team is composed of experts in their respective fields of cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, pulmonary medicine, immunology, critical care medicine, cystic fibrosis, immunosuppression, and rehabilitation. • Living Donor Lung Transplantation
  Lobar pulmonary transplantation at our institution has expanded from implantation of a unilateral lobe in neonatal/pediatric patient to bilateral living related lobar transplantation in selected patients with cystic fibrosis. Donor lobectomies for living-related lobar transplantation require a thorough evaluation of potential donors, as well as modification of standard lobectomy and pulmonary preservation techniques.
